Dead Battery at Denver
N.H.R.A Rules on Starting your car in the staging lanes. In Denver after first round eliminations we get back to the trailer and plug the car in to the charger and leave the water pump on like we have been doing for 30 years. We are originally from Denver and had family and friends in our pit area. After first run we went up to watch the Pro’s mainly because of friends and family’ because I could care less about them. Any way we get called up to second round I head back to the car and notice that the battery charger is unplugged and the fan motor is barely turning. Some how the charger got unplugged. 30 years of racing this has never happened before; probably all the people in the pit area someone tripped on the extension cord and unplugged the car.. I plug the charger back in and let it charge for about 10 minute. Because we are parked 2 miles from the starting line Bob starts the car three times to get to the staging lane. We roll down to the starting line; Bob try’s to start the car to stage’ the battery is dead. We push it two feet it starts and he pulls up. Now I know the rules and the car needs to start under its own power so I know we are screwed. Here comes that asshole Stewart he comes unglued starts yelling and pointing his finger’ we shut it down and push it out of the box. I am pissed he comes up pointing fingers and yelling. I am ready to knock this asshole out. But keep my composure. What I am getting at is we drive 700 miles’ the spectators are there to see racing; why not make it where after fuel check if the car won’t start you are disqualified. This shows that the alternator and battery works. N.H.R.A treats sportsman like **** at national events and Stewart comes up to me with this look like he is ready to kill me well let me tell you something Mr Stewart you old F+++ anywhere but that starting line you aint **** and you know it.
Congratulations To the Fletch.
