The dirty D as we called it. I spent a good part of my youth there, racing day and night. I lived to watch the factory super stocks and a/fx cars that raced there in the 60's. Home track for Al Eckstrand, Ramchargers, Golden Commandos, Stanford Dodge, Bob Ford, Dave Lyall, Carl Holbrook, Color Me Gone, Paul Rossi Westborn, Floyd Foren Chevrolet,Pete Seaton, George Delorean and the list goes on. Many of these racers and sponsors are history now. Detroit Dragway was the place to be in the 60's, if you enjoyed the factory race cars. At one time the track was open every night except Monday and they raced all day Saturday and Sunday. I can't believe we still street raced in the day.
