1976 firebird 400 stocker build. NHRA bluprint guide says intake manifold casting number needs to be 496140. Every other source i find says that is 1975 only and 1976 and 1977 are 525355. Also, i found a stock 1976 firebird in a salvage yard today and it had the correct 6x-8 heads and the 525355 intake. What do i do? Thanks for the help

For now run the 496140 intake, but yes it is a mistake on nhra's part. They also have the 1975 #'s for the two barrel as well.It should be 525355 for the 76' 4 barrel intake, and 525353 for the 76' 2 barrel intake.I am going to ask our head div tech director about it.

If and when you are invited to an NHRA "Party" as they sometimes call it , teardown, they will expect you to have what's in the blueprint guide. Period. You are correct about the 525355 manifold coming on '76 engines but save yourself some grief and go with the 496140. That's what I'm going to do. Danny

Hey guys, when NHRA retyped the spec sheets into the new format a lot of errors were made. I would appeal to NHRA to dig out the original spec sheets and cross reference them with the new sheets. If they are the same I would ask them to supercede the correct part no.,because we all know what is the correct manifold. Thanks Bob Michael.
