I'm going to guess. John Lingenfelter in his blue 69 or 70 corvette. 427

But since you posted , it will be a Ford.

John Lingenfelter never had a BLUE 427 Corvette. That was Bernie Agaman running out of T/K from N.J. Johns Corvette was a 1973 GREEN coupe with a 350 small block that ran SS/MA and later SS/LA after it was factored.
Bernie's 427 (454...my mistake) Corvette had Chrysler Corp. totally upset and made all of the Street Hemi 'Cudas and Challengers obsolete overnight.

Terry, didn't John race a 454 Corvette for a while? I was thinking I remembered at least one that was a low compression 454 combination, and I thought that came after a higher compression 454 combination.

I knew John pretty well back in the mid 70's as he did some work for me on my S/S Camaro when he ran the GREEN 73 Corvette. He tried the 73 Low Comp. 454 a couple of times testing in his car but it was a slug (to much torque and no hood clearence). Remember he ran this car with the swing axel assembly and 9 inch tires until later when he managed to put some slightly larger tires on the car. A high compression combo would not be legal. This was when the class cars ran flat out off of an index during the Jack Mullins 63 Pontiac wagon, Judy Lilly, and Steve Bagwell time frame. The 350 was a better piece against the index and even better with the "Lock up converter". Johns car is still racing today in NHRA Div 1 as a SS/JA and is a killer with a small block but without the lock up converter..
I made a mistake in my last post....I havent had my coffee yet and its way to early for me since I retired again.......lol.
Bernie Agamans Corvette was a 454 not a 427.

I seem to remember Jim Van Cleve's Ford running well ahead of the pack in SS/D back for a while. That would be my guess. Probably early to mid 1980s.

Lingenfelter's SS/MA Corvette is now Russ Linke's SS/JA car. Still fast as hell 30+ years later.

I would say Dave Wren ('70 Cuda) would be a good guess maybe? Every car he had was f'n fast.
