Is Barrett-Jackson, Good or Bad for the the car scene?
Many points of view. Do they help or hurt the industry of collectible cars. |

At least the stupid money of the last few years is beginning to go away.
That whole B-J "experience" as they call it has been mostly about ego. (IMHO) True classics are just that and thankfully someone is preserving them. |

It was bad because people thought the prices they were seeing were real, not manipulated buy backs by the sellers to look good on camera. Same with E-bag.
Watched for a while last night. It appears that the bubble has certainly burst. |

It's nice to watch the stuff go thru on TV, but you really have to be there to see what's really good and what's really not. Prices at BJ are still overly-inflated.....my .02 cents only. WJ

BJ is manipulated TV show and the owners of cars (mainly Mopars) that are not Chevy's are screwed via the scheduling. What they consider high interest cars (read Camaro's) are run through at prime times when the most bidder's are in the seats.
If you have a $50,000.00 Mopar or " off brand " and your car is run through at 1pm on thur there will only be a few bidders present and you will lose your car for a small fraction of your car's worth. As they were signing off Sat. night and the audience was all but gone they finally began to roll E-Body Mopars across the block, how many of those owners lost their *** with no one there to bid? JimR

Jim R,
Something just doesn't seem right on that show. Like missing a gear. Or more like, 'canned laughter'. Nice cars to watch on TV, but,,,,,,,,,,, is it possible to have that many original cars still around. |

The death penalty should be mandatory for anyone putting those horrible 20" rims on anything older that a 1990s and newer car. There was a gorgeous black 1955 chevy the other night, done pretty much original with those silly looking rims.OOOOgly.
It's a gathering of older, rich, alcoholic, low brain cell egomaniacs.

Ed,
I'm sure you haven't seen nothing yet. B-J is auctioning off boats. Can't wait to see a set of Chip Foose Custom wheels on a Chris Craft speed boat, as they push it out on the auction platform. Another note, just how many of those bidders in attendance at B-J could get into a Sotheby's auction house. |
