Default 1993 Camaro for Stock Eliminator

I orginally was looking to turn a 2001 mustang into a stocker, but now have changed my mind. I am now looking at a 1993 camaro. I was wondering if this would be a good car to build.

Who would you guys use to get a decent set of heads for the a decent price?? Also any other tips that I should look out for would be great.

Thanks in advance.

Stefan

Stefan 93 Camaro LT1 motor makes a very fast and probably more expensive racecar to start out with. There is a Mustang listed in the for sale section right now that looks very reasonably priced. Go to your local track and ask questions , most racers will be glad to talk to you. ...Thanx Trevor

Stephan,
As much as I hate it, Woodro Josey will probably sell his car, that's a really nice brand new ride that works and runs. John Livingston has his stocker for sale as well, it's a great car, it's fast, reliable, and consistent.

Either car is a great ride that you can't duplicate for probably twice the price. I just hate to see two more of my friends and mentors retire.

It's hard to go wrong with buying something like that instead of building one, especially if you're not like some of us who can do all the work in house.

Yes much better choice. One of Closkey 's friends up north put a stick car together that ran pretty good, Might be worth looking him up for advice. I cant remember his name but it was a black 90's camaro. Bill Wells had a firebird for sale pretty cheap also.

The black stick Camaro Stocker from Prince George is Cam Chowdens car. Haven`t seen him for a couple of years now.

Stephan,
The late model Camaro makes a fun race car. Mine came as a roller "drop in your engine and trans and go". When it came out of the transporter with both front wheels pointing in different directions I knew it had turned from a roller to a project. Two years later, every nut and bolt replaced, new front and rear suspension, complete rewire and so on.
Interesting to go through all the details that make up a race car. Not too expensive if you do it all yourself but very time consuming. Next time I would watch the car go through tech at a divisional event, get it scaled and watch it make a couple passed before the money changed hands. You can't build most racecars for the price you can buy them for.
If you have any questions on these cars send me a PM.
BTW, first time out I went to the semi's at the Mission Open where Phil Marvetz took me out with his wagon. Racing is still fun!
