When I last checked, about a year ago, our Roadrunner was not considered a Nostalgia Muscle car. Therefore, could not compete. Can anyone tell me if this has changed?

That's weird for a car that's 42 years old, because anything that's older than 25 years is considered an antique.

Who would ever think,,,,,,,,,
1969 Motor Trend Car of the Year (February 1969),,, The car style is still considered one of the best... Ed, The 1969 Road Runner had a slightly different weight than the 68' Road Runner. Both the 1968 and 1969 Coupes and Hardtops ran in the same class. The 68' cars with the 383/335 HP; Coupe,,,,,,#3424 lbs. Hardtop,,,,#3450 lbs. The 69' cars with the 383/335 HP Coupe...........#3437 lbs. (10.26 wt/hp) (1969,, F/S or SS/J Class) Hardtop.........#3454 lbs. (10.33 wt/hp) (1969,, F/S or SS/J Class) Convertible....#3574 lbs. (10.67 wt/hp) (1969,,G/S or SS/J Class) 1969 Road Runner, featuring a new style grille, new black matte hood design, rectangular-shaped side-lights Last edited by Paul Ceasrine; 11-22-2011 at 03:48 PM. |

I bought this car new with 383, coupe, decor grp, air grabber and 3.91 sure grip. I would like to do some nostalgia racing as my class racing career winds down with our Dart. The Dart qualifies but Roadrunner does not. Another subject, apparently the 68 Hemi coupe is lighter than a 69. The 68 could get into AA SA and the 69 can not. Gary Hansen

Gary,
1968 and 1969 Hemi Road Runner car weights; 1968 Coupe..........#3560 lbs. Hardtop........#3595 lbs. 1969 Coupe..........#3668 lbs. Hardtop........#3685 lbs. Convertible...#3806 lbs. Back in 1969, when the NHRA changed up the weight/horsepower factors. 7.00 - 7.49 wt/hp was SS/D 7.50 - 7.99 wt/hp was SS/E NHRA re-rated the 426/425 HP Street-Hemi to 475 horsepower. The 68' Coupe had a 7.49 wt/hp, and fell into SS/D. A horrible weight-to-horsepower factor. But, the 69' Coupe (+108 lbs. heavier), with a 7.72 wt/hp could run SS/E or A/S. pc |

Thanks....I thought the 68 hemi was lighter. I considered building a AA car before I built the Dart and the invasion of Drag Paks and CJ's. This car ran G Stock (NHRA) and then SS-I when NHRA made the pure stock move in 71 or 72. Thanks again. Gary Hansen

Gary,
Correct on the 1970 and 1971 NHRA season. 68' and 69' 383 Road Runners (Coupe or Hardtop) were classed in G/Stock. The 69' Road Runner (Convertible) classed in H/Stock. 1972,,,,,,,,,,,SS/I (Coupe or Hardtop) 1972,,,,,,,,,,,SS/J (Convertible) The 1969 1/2' 440-6 Barrel Road Runner #3545 lbs. D/S or SS/G pc |

In Mid 70's 68 Hemi Coupe was SS/CA (before you could have changed
weight). I bought one from Mike Loge back around 74 -75 that he raced in SS/CA. It still had window sticker in window and showed 800 Miles! |
