Default 16 volt step down resistor

Do most people use a step down resistor with a 16 volt battery to run the accessories? Thanks

Ive got a 16V in my Dart, with no resistor, and love it. All the other pieces run a little faster and the lights are brighter. We called all the manufatures (water pump, fan, Auto Meter...) before doing so and was told (by all of them) that there shouldnt be a problem. Only thing Auto Meter said was if you had old gage lights, you might want to replace 'em.

If your electronics are more than 7-8 years old may have issue. If you are concerned ROCK sells a 16v battery with a 12v accessory post on it.

Only problem I ever had was a cooling fan went out but I did'nt have a relay on it. We put a relay in and never had another issue. Been 16v 4 seasons now.

we've had a 16V battery on dad's car since 2002, and never ran a step down on anything but an older data logger that we had. If you need a step down box, I'll sell you the one i have on the shelf

I like how fast my starter, cooling fans & power windows work on 16 volts. No problems so far.

Thanks for the responses. I would think using the step down resistor would reduce the drain on the battery from the accessaries. Chad, thanks for the offer, but I already ordered a new one from Jegs. I'm switching from a 12v optima with alternator to a 16v turbo start without alternator.
