After months of painstaking work, long meetings, and with the agreement of some of the absolute best minds in motorsports, here is the initial information regarding the Hemi part of the Curt George Memorial at Pittsburgh Raceway Park June 15-17. The Hemi portion will be run in it's entirety on Saturday, June 16.
Hemi Showdown rules Saturday, June 16, 2012 Pittsburgh Raceway Park, New Alexandria, Pa. Presented by Bud’s Auto Sales, Beaverdale, Pa. Part of the Curt George Memorial MoPar weekend. RULES: Generation II (426 series) Hemi only A, B, or E full bodied cars Carburetors or Manual Fuel Injection Normally aspirated only, no alcohol, no nitrous’ No Electronics, trans brakes OK. No Chassis cars Any Rear suspension Period correct hood scoops only There may be some small adjustments to the rules as time goes on. Minimum ET 12.00 Must dial to the nearest tenth All cars must meet IHRA Safety Rules Requirements for speed/et Winner $1500 RU $750 Plus money to semis, other goodies to be named later. This will be a great ice breaker for the Beaver Springs / FHO Hemi NSS Shootout at the Nostalgia Nationals the next month. Just think, two great Hemi events for regular Joe Hemi racers a month a part. We've got 20 cars coming, a lot of Nostalgia Super Stock racers, including a couple of 65 AWB Dodges & Plymouths. We’d like to get a list of some prospective entries, so for more information, send me a private message or email me at stevereasbeck@aol.com Again, pre entry is not required....feel free to show up at the last minute and get involved. But, if you let us know you're coming we'll get it out there.... This could get real interesting. It will be fun! We have a rules clarification we'd like to address. 1965 Altered Wheelbase B bodies clones welcome, even original AWB if someone has the hootzpa to run one. Electronic assisted fuel injection permitted on those cars as long as it appears and functions as the original 65 A/FX units. My friends at Accuweather in State College guarantee good weather, so be there or be square!! |

Sounds like a fun deal Steve. I wish I could be there. Take some photos and e-mail them to me. I wish there was more events like that around DFW. We just had our one NSS event here last weekend.

Should be a blast. We've had a good response, a lot of interest.
We desired to keep it for the regular Joe racer....NSS, brackets, legal, whatever. We used 422 NSS rules, and we've got everything from AWB 65 Clones, to a lot of NSS Hemis, E bodies, and a couple of NHRA/IHRA class guys. They payout is not bad for a Saturday evening's work, but we wanted to keep it low key, non pressure. Didn't want a deal where a few guys came in and just threw money at each other....we want everyone to have some fun. You're gonna have to educate those Texicans on what goes on up here, Jim.... |

Some photos I took at Beaver Springs two years ago. I'm thinking there might be some of the same cars at PRP.

Steve,
Have you contacted Tim Banning @ FHO to ask him the spread the word in and around Ontario, Canada? There are about 6 to 8 Hemi cars near Tim's place that would make the trip if they knew about the race. I'll alert a few folks in Western Ontario and ask them to spread the word. My car isn't finished yet or I'd be there. sscuda |

I went to Carlisle in 2005 with Dick Oldfield. A friend in Tampa hooked me up with Dick and we met at York, and he drove up to Carlisle. We spent the day walking around. The funniest part was we were walking towards the Mopar trailer and David Hakim saw Dick and just about jumped off the trailer to run down to greet him. That was a fun deal with Dick telling me all sorts of things they tried on the Missile cars.
The other photos are from the York US 30 Reunion in 2005. One is Bill Stiles and the other is of Hemi Fred's pimp doll on his engine display. Bill is a real good guy too.
