Welcome to Jacksonville, NC on a very hot muggy Saturday. It's a one-day show (not counting the Fri test and tune), with 2pm start today, with the intention of getting us into some cooler(ish) night racing to complete the event. Already about halfway through the first of two qualifying sessions. Not horrible bad in the shade with a bit of a tailwind, but step into the sun is a brtual sauna. Prolly already burnt, and just doing a cursory detail wipe over the black paint on the top of the Duck Tape Volare is enough to burn your hand through a folded rag! Super Stock, called now....

94.1 deg, 57%, 29.86, 3273' 5mph tailwind... pretty fast out for the conditions. Coastal Plains has always been a great, fast track.

Fast moving line of storms coming through. Lots of lightning, just now starting to sprinkle. Supposed to be out of here by 6pm, but there's talk of 30-40 mph winds and possible pea sized hail. Seems like it's going on either side of us though! Lucky so far, but we're in pause mode just for the lightning at this time.

The storms got us. Quite heavy for awhile, and lots of lightning. Saturday was called off. Time trial for everyone at 10am tomorrow, then finish eliminations.

Good morning from Coastal Plains. Our tailwind is gone, and although a slightly higher barometer and temps 'only' in the low 80's this morning, ithumid still, and sure to warm up quickly under mostly sunny skies.
Tidbit I forgot to post from yesterday's pre-race... prior to the invocation and national anthem, Renee Bingham led us in reciting the Pledge of Allegiance. I thought that was pretty cool. Hot Rod is in the lanes now and Stock has been called. 1 time trial for everyone, then we resume eliminations. We had gotten through Rnd 1 of HR yesterday and just 1-2 pair of Stock.

Surprisingly quick for having no tailwind. Several picked up .02-.03 from yesterday, and I saw as much as .06 improvement from one car. Stock has been called for the completion on Rnd 1. Things will go very quickly today.
