I have purchased a Jerico with a long shifter, what clutch, flywheel and bell housing should I buy next? The car is a 65 Chevelle, Super Stock 283, 3300 pounds with driver.
Thanks Glenn |

Buy the best first and never look back. Rob Youngblood Advanced Clutches 208-880-6214. He is the best.

Advanced and a Browell. No matter what you buy for a scattershield get one with a window. Best money I ever spent. Clutches require adjustments and the window reduces the adjustment time a bunch.

I know 2 guys that are not the least bit happy with their Advance units nor Rob's help or service. Nothing wrong with a McLeod SoftLoc. Browell bell is nice if it's in your budget. I'll stick with my Lakewood until it won't re-cert any longer.

There are a lot of great choices in different price ranges that will fit your needs. You don't need the trick of the week, but you do need something that matches up well with the good choice you made on a transmission.
Do your homework and talk to some of the clutch guys like Tim Hyatt and Rob Youngblood. If you are interested in having an easier time with the setup and going quicker, then I think the Youngblood is a great way to go. If you bracket race only, there are some choices that may not be as quick, but might be less expensive. I am not going to be a Youngblood commercial, and I have never even bought a new one from him, but I have had him rebuild some used ones I bought. He also will respond to e mail and will pick up the phone to answer a question. You just won't find that everywhere. He can't do it all over the phone, but he can get you close. In any case, talking to him or e mailing is a good start. On the belhousings. Top of the line is the Browell alum one that will cost$$$ and take some fab work. He does make a steel bell like a QT, but I think you can custom order it with some features the QT may not have, but they are similar. He also is a great guy to talk to. The QT with the window is hard to beat for the money. I run one and have run the older lakewood and mcleod steel bells. The QT fits in my tunnel better and is lighter. It is about .200 shallower. The QTs can be had off the shelf too. Lakewood bought them out, but they are still marketed as a QT. Larry Wilson runs a Chevelle SS car with a small block Stick. He would be a good one to get ahold of as well. email me at jimschaechter@earthlink.net for any specific questions if you like. Welcome to Stickshift Class racing!
