I have a friend who has owned the same utility sedan for 40 years. It has NO rust and is apart for restoration. All Nos or fresh parts, Many number matching parts including 4 barrel 265, 3 speed on the column. Original material for seats. Trying to help find the value for this as the friend is quite ill and wants to sell it shortly. He was a body /restoration man so imagine the care he has given to the car.
I assume it has been in his garage for most of the 40 years. Thanks. Dick Butler 937-623-8126 cell. |

Sounds like one of these
http://www.mecum.com/auctions/lot_de...=SC0512-125693 No back seat.....windows don't go down in the rear......maybe no radio and or even no heater..... A "Business Coupe" was a popular term for cars like this....No frills.....Basic transportation for a door to door type salesman.....Fuller Brush Man.....Pots and Pans...... Small appliances A buddy in high school had one......A Blue Flame Six with a 3 on the tree....A chrome pot air cleaner....I drove it a few times......Beat on it pretty good.......LOL....He wanted me to! I can still hear the carb. sucking air..........it had a chrome pot instead of the stock oil bath air cleaner......

Oops....I thought he said '55...........'56s were a lot different to me...
Another friend had one of those.......265 powerpack....P/G......Those cars were dogs.......The trans killed it.......It was almost always in the wrong gear since all you had were 2 speeds.....and a very tight converter...... I had a '55 Chev for a while.....Put an engine I had laying around in it......a '58 Pontiac engine.......with the hydramatic.......project went down hill when I discovered the block was cracked.....froze up from leaving it sit a long time and there was water still in the block.....2nd time that happened to an engine I had......I try not to let that happen after those 2 events.....LOL

I owned a '57 Business Coupe - my first race car. 283 2bbl 4-speed. The car was originally a service vehicle for Southwestern Bell. Originally a 265 2bbl 3-speed OD.

I bought my '55 business man's coupe in 1986 off a gentleman in Montana specifically to build as a Super Stocker. I have never registered it to drive on the road so the only miles it has are on the track. Speedometer "currently and always" reads 265180. Mine came with what was called a recirculating heater and only one sunvisor.
The only modifications done to the body are mini tubs and a hole in the floor for the "Long" shifter. It originally came from Nelson Motor Products in Bellingham,Washington. Had it appraised two years ago. Number was $33,500.00 canadian. Allan |
