Default National Opens and AHFS

Looks like the Opens could be interesting. It would be a great case to show off and set the record for some of the half track cars! They could have a real battle for a national record or no. 1 qualifier. It would have to be a COPO, CJ, and Drag Pak playground!
Maybe it will help some car counts at the National Opens.
As nauseating the factors are for some of these cars, at least we can see a full throttle run or two! That would be pretty cool.

I really don't agree with this, if you are allowed to set records, the AHFS should apply.

Only so many Carey Bales 'types' (WOT)...suspect they will still not show their cards. But will be interesting at least and you're right that it may help car counts.

JMantle No disrespect but I don't agree with the AHFS at all!!! With half my brain tied behind my back I could do a better job with HP factors than that. I'm glad us guys that know what we are doing have spent a little money and have worked hard for years now have a place where we can let it hang without the fear of getting hp. And lets face it. Air like they had at the dutch last year can ruin a combo that has a factor already close. I don't think there are many combos out there that couldn't run at least 1.20 under those type of conditions. Barry

I agree the AHFS is far from perfect but that's all we have. One good thing that could come out of this is it will expose some of the 1000 footers who just can't resist.

I think at the Opens they should be allowed to go all out with no penalty.
My car & i'm sure other small block carb motors Run sooo much better in cool air
then they can run in 90 degree humid air.

On the other hand, the new cars probably can run better then the older cars in any air.

I do not think New or Old Cars should get penalized at the Opens.

There are enough races during the year where these new cars can get H.P. from anyway.

Just my .03 cents

I would imagine the tech guys will be super busy at the teardown barn at those national opens.

Still, it will be fun to watch some racers hang it all out.

They wouldn't observe these runs, oh say just for fun, then make some adjustments in a couple of years as is their perogative.....just "trust" us......turn them loose....have some fun boys
