Default Crop Dusting Video

Please check out a video I made of the local crop duster yesterday. He was literally 75 ft over our heads.

I get to see a lot of those in N Florida and S. Ga.... Sometimes it scares me and I'm still on the ground... Some of those pilots sure can fly "by the seat of their pants"... No matter how soiled they may be!!!!

My house backs up to a large sugar cane field. They got one of those things that flys like that. I think he aims at me. Once I saw the plane down in the field, and called the local sheriff's office. They investigated. The guy was answering nature's call. It's an old radial duster. I met some guys in Houston (not the mud natiionals) who fly and when I told him about the radial plane, he suggested I move. And you think we crazy.

Dennis - I have some customers from around Pinckneyville that usually fly some beans on every year. They've had decent luck with, only real downside is it isn't an approved planting method from an insurance standpoint.

Thankyou very much for the video. I used to get to see them alot when I was hauling citrus where I consider home, FLA. The airport in LaBelle had some Grumman AgCats and those radial engines sure sound fine.

I had experience years ago with at first I thought was a crop duster , I was putting on nitrogen in the river bottom farms which was located next to a airport up on the high ground , always planes taking off and landing , it was also a flying training center school for Indiania State , One day I,m working and hear a rumbling noise that sounded ljke a nostalgia dragster and see a shadow next to the tractor that was way to close ,next thing I see is a real small vintage plane painted up like a WW -2 fighter plane bouncing across the field next to my John Deere ,,I about had The big one !!! After it quit bouncing and came to a stop I stopped and went to check it out , the older guy was shook up but ok . He was flying to Vincennes In. to a vintage air show and had run out of fuel , I had some fuel in my truck so I rounded up the rest of the guys working and fiilled him up and we all had to push him a long way in rough worked ground to try to get him going . We got him up and going, It reminded me of the old film clip you use to see of the plane flying thru the barn..... Price-Less Oh I did get pictures !!!

I used to flag for a crop duster in eastern washington when I was in high school. I would stand in the field with the flags held out, when he got lined up on me he would wiggle his wings and I would have to take 23 of the fastest steps I'd ever take to get ready for the next pass. If he was spraying a spud field and wasn't picking up some vines with his wheels he thought he was to high off the ground. I got sprayed with all kinds of crap. Might be why agent orange didn't bother me in nam. Might also be the reason I don't have much hair.
