I'm interested in getting some sort of data acquisition system. I don't have a real large budget. I was talking to Racepak about their sportsman. Is there a better option that is tried and true with out the Racepack price tag. The basic system is $825 plus 250 for an oil pressure sensor and 170 for one temp. that seems very basic. and that is already over a grand. I purchased an Altronics Informer years ago. It never ever worked right and I got jerked around big time by the company. So I will never purchase their products again.

I have the V300SD in my SS/BS and my dad has the V300 in his E/SM stick car and I honestly think Racepak is the way to go. I have a buddy who has a stick shift SS car and he got the Sportsman from Racepak and loves it. It really gives you a picture of what is happening once you let go of the clutch. If we did not have it on the comp car there would be no reason for us to even show up.
I know people have used the RPM Performance system and have loved it. It is more economical than the Racepak and seems to have good reviews. |

Bottom line is that you will have to pay some dough for any system. We have a racepak sportsman and yes the basic system is 800, but you can start there and easily add sensors as time allows. That is what we did and we are pleased with it.
Come by at Joliet and I will show you. We know have added oil pressure, fuel pressure, temperature, clutch and dual O2s on top of the basic that we started with.

I have the Computech Datamaxx system and digital dash. Input shaft and driveshaft sensors. Oil and fuel pressure, temp and O2 sensors. It is a build up system. I have not had any problems. Also an SD card is used to record to.

Check out rpmperf.com Randy is a good guy. I have installed many systems and use one myself. I just couldn't make myself pay Racepac's price tag.

Times 2 on rpm performance, Randy is always there to help and has excellent products. Run 1 in my current car as well as my 5-speed AX car.
