Bruce, I assume you are talking about a National Champ in A/S, B/S etc. I like that, but based on Class wins, class rounds, etc.? And why? I like heads up racing.

Jeff, we were running heads up before and I wonder if this series does much for class racing. I can see it saving money for nhra and sponsors. But what does it do for the majority of class racers who can't get to 4 National events with class eliminations?

Its real simple

Do away with the class combo. NHRA can never get it right, the ladders are always a cluster **$k and wrong 80% of the time.

Give all singles a trophy. There's no money at all but 4 class races so whats the big deal.

Fastest Car on the grounds gets the bonus point weather its a single class or a class with 20 cars.

As far as number of races that count for points 4 of 6 is about right. You should haft to travel to win this award.

Actually have a real championship trophy that is not a joke.

Actually tell sponsors they haft to pay the class champion $500. when I won both years. The sponsors had no idea what this program was, other then Comp Cams.

This is a great program for STK/SS racers but no one at NHRA seams to care about it.

Good suggestions, Charley.

In the heyday of junior stock racing, Indy was always unofficially considered the showdown. I like the idea of a shootout of the guys who think they are the fastest in a class rather than a potentially sterile points race. Somebody could win a class championship honor and never race somebody in the same class for the entire season. Get the hot dogs together on a given day with the championship at stake - good racing and no sandbagging!

.
At about $200 a class winner wally, that might make entry fees jump to about $400 at every class race to make up for the trophy costs. Careful what you wish for!

As is always the case, it comes down to nhra doing the right thing. It would be fun to begin and end a year long points series at Indy. Similar to the All-stars series. Also think $200.00 a pop is too much for the little man with a plastic plaque.
