Default Jumping in to Stock or SuperStock

Well, After almost 8 months of trying, I finally sold my Top Sportsman car this past weekend. Now, I will move to the next phase of my racing career and jump into the Stock or SuperStock ranks.
I have a few criteria that I need to achieve when selecting the class and car.
1) The ability to run the operation alone without crew assistance.
2) Ability to use the car to bracket race when the urge strikes to get out on a weekend.
3) Something that will be fun
4) something that will not break the bank

I am in the market for a car and have the cash (not a tire kicker). I'm just not decided yet on exactly the car or class to dive into.
As an old 4 speed guy ( back in the 70's), I have this urge to look for a 4 speed stocker.
I have viewed this site for a long time and have found the responses to most inquiries to be legitimate and respectful and am looking for thoughts, ideas and comments.
Although I have stated (to wife and friends) that I was going to be very patient and diligent in the selection process.....I'll likely not keep this committment!!!
I have spotted a 98 Firebird on Racing Junk that looks like a nice unit. MPR built stocker with a Woodro motor.Got the juices flowing!!
Interested in any and all comments.
Look forward to a lively conversation.
Thanks in advance.

John

Stick cars aren't my territory, but that sure sounds like it'd have the fun meter pegged!

Whatever route you choose, welcome aboard my friend!

This is the one I would buy if I wanted a stick car ready to unload off the trailer and run with anyone.

Thanks Michael. I'll contact you as soon as I need new lettering.
The guy I sold the T/S car to really liked the lettering. I'll pass your info on to him.

That's a killer stick car. You won't do any better than that.

Think some of your criteria may be conflicted but that depends on what "breaks the bank" means to you. SS cars are more $$ intensive because of the gearing, cam profiles, etc necessary to run enough under the index to have some chance in a heads up situation. Stock cars are a bit more wallet friendly (generally speaking) and ones like Kevin Stubb's (which I think is advertised on RJ as well) or even the Waldo stick cars advertised there would be very competitive and are obviously proven winners. Bracket racing a Stocker stick car could be challenging due to the smaller tire and local track conditions but there are several that do just that. If you haven't already I'd suggest you subscribe to Nitro Joe's stats to see how various combinations stack up; find what really interests you and go for it. I'm sure others will chime in, everybody is welcome to the asylum.

If you don't mind being the car that always gets the head start in Superstock. Get in touch with me. Very very reasonable price for complete setup.
But I warn you if you put a manual trans in you will go 3 tenths (at least) quicker.

I have a 86 Z-28 Stocker
But it is an Automatic
Can race it in brackets, won't break the bank
Very consistent
Very well put together
Runs 4-65 under the 12.30 index
Super clean in n out
See my ad in cars for sale

The Waldos in div. 6 had a couple of winning stick cars in the classified section a few weeks ago. Also a trailer.
