Default teenage drag race team

We have our car on display in the Carolina Collectors Auto Fest in Raleigh. Today I had a young man, 16 years old, stop by to talk drag racing. His race car is a 1969 small block Chevy Nova. His 5 man crew is made up of 5 more teenagers. The bracket race and obviously have fun doing it. They looked at my car and we talked t length about drag racing. I gave him my email address the they could contact me. This was super. The "crewchief" was, I think, 18 years old.

That is so awesome! I can't even get my 17 year old Son to look at my race car.

There is hope for our sport in the future!

Hang in there. At 16-18 I could not get mine to look at one either. Now at 23 almost 24 we are building him a car. He finally has the racing bug.

Red face Re: teenage drag race team

Sometimes it works the other way,,,, in '02-'03 my younger son was racing all the time, even won a division championship in high school. After that, life got in the way, now hes a firefighter, has his own house, career, and is still single, but the racecar is still in my garage, and hasn't been out in a decade. I'm hoping someday he'll get back into it. The reason I'm storing his Chevelle, is that it was his first car and he wants to hang onto it,, so all hope is not lost.
On another note,, I went to the LSX Shootout in Memphis in '09 and the place was packed with young racers, but they weren't doing Stock or Superstock, so their attention is diverted another direction, it looks like to me. My 2 cents.
