Default Burnout Procedure with Proflite

Just wondering if anyone can offer up some tips/advice on burnout procedures they have had success with, and vice versa, with a three speed Proflite. Its our first season with the tranny and we want to make sure we keep it in one piece knowing they arent anywhere near as durable as our trusty old powerglide.

Cheers!

Make sure the tires are wet and hit the throttle in high gear. Or if you can manually shift 2-3, then get them to turn in 2nd and go to third and get some wheel speed. I assume you have a TH with 904 guts.

I do exactly as Jeff says. Start in 2nd gear and shift into 3rd gear.

I do too, and get it in 3rd gear before letting it move forward out of the water.

I do my burnout as with the above racers and as originally recommended by Protrans, seems to work well. I'll add that I switched partially from a powerglide ten years ago and 100% five years ago and have NOT had a single failure. "Thanks Dave."

Thanks for the feedback everyone! The debate for us was between doing a third gear burnout compared to the 2-3 shift to prolong the lifespan of the trans. I think you've all made it pretty clear the 2-3 option is a viable one and likely what we'll go with.

Jeff, the trans is an A/MP Torqueflite configuration.

Cheers!
