Helping a friend with an '86 Olds Cutlass Super Stocker & would appreciate any input or advice on front suspension components & set up. What shocks/ springs (would prefer double adjustable with coil over that fits stock location if available). Car wheelstands on even the worst of tracks. Looking for more adjustability & control of wheelstand as well as control of bounce after wheelstand. Car is currently set up with 90/10s & moroso springs, ladder bar/coil over rear.
Thanks, all input is appreciated.

David,
I can get you set up with a real nice set of JRi DA coil overs with stock mounting. I have a few grudge cars and 10.5 cars running them and they love them. -Matt |

Third set of shocks, Santuffs, finally fixed mine. I would buy nothing else now. Had QA1s, then paid a self proclaimed shock guru to re-valve them. No improvement.
Then AFCO fronts, with their new BNC valving. Still had to run them full tight both directions. Still hard to keep it from unloading, still bounced on landing. Re-valved, better but not enough. Many racers are using AFCOs with great results. I could never get them slow/stiff enough for mine. Santuffs fixed it. I can make it stand straight up, or hardly pick them up at all by adjusting the front shocks. Much wider adjustment range. And, no more bouncing when it lands. I spent enough on two sets of shocks, freight and phone calls & re-valving to pay for the Santuffs.

Thanks Ed. I know several guys that run the Stanthuffs on their F bodies & they do work, wasnt sure if they had a shock for the Cutlass application but I will definately be checking with them. Thanks again.

Thanks Matt. I am not familiar with the JRi DA. Do you have a part # for the Cutlass. I will check them out & get back with you. Thanks.

Dave,
Our part number is PAC-400-5-134-2CR and they will come with PAC coil over springs, which we pay contingency on suspension and valve springs in the NHRA. |

Unless NHRA is allowing it now, you may not be able to use a coil over shock and spring in Super Stock class.
Don't have it handy right now but suggest you take a look at the rule book. The Olds Cutlass is a RWD car and did not have coil overs as a OEM configuration. For Super Stock class, the front suspension must be of an OEM configuration. Therefore, OEM control arm with an OEM spring configuration and OEM front shock mount. |
