Default How long has this rule been in effect?

Looking at the General & Specific Class Lane Choice Procedures just posted on NHRA Racer.
Is this a new rule? I was under the impression that Stock and Super Stock lane choice was always determined by a coin toss?

-Super Stock and Stock: Round one lane choice goes to the better qualifying position. Subsequent rounds are determined by a coin toss.

That is 100% new verbiage in the "outline" posted today on NHRA Racer.

The rulebook states lane choice in a number of classes under race procedures, but does not list stock/super stock. Therefore, the following statement applies:

"In all other categories, competing drivers are to determine lane choice by a coin flip or a random-draw lane assignment."

Someone needs to update the outline that was just put out because they are incorrect.

Or...., they are implementing a new rule.

Any SRAC representative care to make the call for clarification?

I keep on top of the topics that our SRAC reps discuss and never heard this one! So why even have the SRAC if NHRA doesn?t listen to them on issues the racers have and just institute whatever rules they want to? Why waste an SRAC reps time?

The SRAC has had little success over its life so far. It is good that we have some sort of representation for the sportsman categories.

In my opinion Stock, Super Stock and if it isn't already, Comp should ALL be lower qualified car gets lane choice EVERY round.

Bryan, I was on General Motors Dealer Counsel. It started out as a great
idea to get the dealer's opinions on different topics and concerns that either
GM or the dealers had on the areas that mutually concerned them. We had
to travel to Detroit for meetings, and it was 3 to 4 days out of your week, so
you certainly wanted to accomplish something of benefit for your involvement. I can say that it aligns exactly like SRAC. Very few of the dealers ideas were used, and in most cases decisions had been made
before we even arrived at the meetings. They were meant to be make us
feel important, and involved in the decisions that may shape our future.
It was just a ruse to appease us, and if a dealer asked GM a tough question,
they would tell them to contact their dealer counsel rep. A waste of everyone's time.

Racers should have some reward for qualifying high on the list.
