Because their index is too low just like AA/SA. The SS/AH should be 9.50 or 9.60 instead of 9.30. AA/SA should be 10.80 or 10.85 instead of 10.60.

I just checked the info on Drag Race Central and 5 SS/AH cars qualified and 3 made the call for 1st round. I could be wrong, but, I believe, many of the Hemi cars just go there for the shootout.

The index for the SS/AH cars need to be adjusted from 9.30 to 9.50 - 9.60. The SS/AA index is 9.70 and run on the same weight break as the hemi cars. When the fastest SS/AH car qualifies 106th, I believe that is a good sign that an adjustment is needed.

They will qualify .2 to.3 quicker which might allow them to qualify.

Not like the good old days... look at the qualifying sheets at the Mission Points Meets a dozen or so years ago. Almost all the top ten are Hemi cars but it wasn't a soft index, the cream of the crop were there and they were making amazing runs.
Now to have the Hemis atop the qualifying order they'd be close to the sevens and that just isn't likely to happen anytime soon. They could easily bring some excitement back with index. |

One thing it would do is make them more likely to get HP.
