I'm foot braking in a 6.50 index class that uses a .400 tree. My staging procedure is this, I get the R's to my launch rpm, wait for the opponent to light the top bulb, roll all the way until the top bulb goes out and a millisecond later the yellows come on. My lights vary and were been mostly bad at the end of last season. Would a 2 step make my RT's any better or is a trans brake in my future?

two step and trans brake will be required to be competitive in that type of racing

x2 footbraking a .400 tree would be difficult to say the least, do they allow deep staging? (some do) if so do it!
You could try the "slow roll method" or bump in, but we all know this is more inconsistent and affects et. If you plan to continue to run this .4 tree I would suggest getting the fastest pro tree brake you can find. good luck

X2. Especially if it's in reality a .370 tree, plus others will just decide they aren't going to stage first and when you're up on the converter you may be getting in trouble with inconsistent staging depth. Campaign for a .500 tree or bite the bullet.

So a 2 step by itself won't make RT's quicker? I do deep stage every run. I wait for him to pre-stage and then I roll in deep in one motion.

2 step will hurt reaction time. Pro tree trans brake a must.

smaller diameter front tires and less front end travel, more air in slicks and air front up as tight as you can, wider rear wheels with same tire you have now are things that can help if they are changes you can make
I would say pro brake, wide open against converter,no 2 step. Mike Taylor 3601 Last edited by Mike Taylor 3601; 04-02-2015 at 08:49 AM. Reason: addition |
