Default Going to IHRA race

Haven't been to an IHRA race in a while was thinking of going to the Martin race this weekend. Question, do you have to join IHRA to go, as I recall at one time you didn't have to but that may have changed, anyone know for sure? Not sure I want to join to attend 1 race. Thanks Joe

Yes you have to be a member to race one of their events. You can pay at the race or call Donna at the main office to join. She is very helpful and will e mail you a temporary membership card.

This is a link to the form I used for the Cordova race earlier this year. I then joined IHRA as I had a great time at the race and was treated very well by the IHRA staff.

Joe, thanks for the link thought they had that for all their races, maybe they've changed that. Seems to make sense for them to do it that way as it allows a racer to attend at least one of their races without joining for a year.

I guarantee if you go to one of the IHRA races you will go to many more! Your membership fee helps to support racing in general and you will get a very nice Drag Review magazine full of some great info and articles. I felt like you do and tried one race....... I wound up #4 in the division for two years! You can't really expect not to join in order to run. Oh and you can keep your NHRA number too! Jim

Jim, I had raced with IHRA for years, enjoyed racing with them. However due to changes the "close" races for me are very limited. Thought I recalled at a point you could attend their races without joining though you could earn no points which is only fair. If I had any thoughts of attending more than 1 race I'd have no issues paying for a membership. Thanks Joe

Thanks for posting that Joe !

I was not aware IHRA did that.
We used to have one IHRA race in KY, but we lost that one this year, but if I ever want to attend an IHRA race that is out of state, I will try that complimentary form.

Looks to me like that form may have just been for Cordova?
