Default 1978 145/180 305 sbc

Does anyone have any experience running a 1978 145/180 305 SBC? Can it be made to run well? Just wondering if it could be a decent engine for a P/Q/R class slow stocker Camaro, Nova, Malibu or something. Any thoughts?

Very good combo and it can make T and U in the right Camaro or Nova.

I've been waiting a long while to see a max effort for U/SA.
Of course, it's not THE BEST car for U/SA,, but right up there, I believe.

It may not be the best but in this day and age I'll bet that it's the easiest!

I agree on that. Ought to be " Half Fast " with all Ebay parts

(That reference was for Bob Shaw)

Does that mean it would be competitive P/SA in a Malibu? or is it a just a better U car combo? The carb is pretty small, not like the 69,70.

James Hubbs runs pretty well with a Malibu in Q
The Omega that got the hp off to begin with, ran good in R
Cieri Brother are way under the index with a wagon in T
No reason to think that engine wouldn't like being in a Camaro or Firebird. in U/SA

The 1978 305/145/180 has three heads listed in the Engine Blueprint Specifications (354434, 376450, 462614) but I only see one of them in the Stock/Super Stock Cylinder Head Volumes list (450). What happens if they are not listed there?

I've got a 79 Trans Am body that already has a prepped 10 bolt with Strange axles, spool and c-clip eliminators and a 5.13 gear. Also the split mono leafs and pcs for the Cal-tracs, mocked up in place. Also has the subframe bushings. And the subframe connectors and a mild steel roll bar, never installed. My never completed IHRA crate motor car.

Not sure if it would pass muster, but might be able to graft a 78 doghouse onto it. Make no mistake it's a project car. Have a bunch of stuff that would go with it. Just throwing this out here. It needs to go. The front wheels and tires do not go with the car, already been put to an alternate use.
