Lancaster is on the way to Buffalo from rochester, you can see it from the thruway (I-90) Its slightly closer to Buffalo than Rochester but not by much. Empire Drag way is about 45 minutes south of Rochester located in Leicester, NY. Buffalo is about 2 hours away from Empire, maybe a little more, never made the ride. Empire was my home track for awhile. ESTA drag way (Cicero) is a 1/4 track that is on the outskirts of Syracuse. Hope that helps.

You also have Spencer Speedway in Williamson, NY about 20 miles east of Rochester.

Thumbs down Re: Buffalo area race tracks

News regarding a newer venue off I-81 north of Syracuse is no news.
Progress is being made on the circle track/road track construction with the hopes of having the Dirt week Race this coming fall after the "Moody Mile"
was destroyed(demolished) at the State Fair grounds.
A Drag Strip? None at this time and no talks about 1 in the future.
Donnelly did it again.

that joint;s gonna have to be big for super dirt week. amazing they downed the fairgrounds, unless it just fell over from age. time for a change I guess.... Cicero has their S/SS challenge an FJ's show is back @ Empire twice so that's good news. tks for the info guys, now I know.

Empire has been under new ownership for about two years, the new owners (Jerry and Clara) are knocking it out of the park with improvements to the long neglected facility. New bathrooms, concession stands, more paved pit space etc. And they and their crew are great people to race with. Lancaster has been under new management as of last spring and they too are working hard to bring the track back from the brink. Give them both a try, either as a racer or a spectator, you won't regret it. Just my two cents.
