Default Pure Stock Suspension

Hello there,

I was just curious as to what suspension adjustments are acceptable for IHRA Pure Stock rules, just building a car and just want to be 100% certain

What kind of car ?

My 95 Mustang Pure Stocker has the Mega Bite Jr. lowers and it really helps plant the tires.
I still use the factory uppers with stock coil springs and one coil removed.
I also still have the factory sway bar.

I believe the rule says they have to be bolt on arms, ( no welding on the rear housing)
However, the lower control arm cannot be adjustable in length ( no heim ends)

Adjustable shocks are legal.
No coil over shocks allowed.

I know that Caltrac's are not legal. I sent an email to Mike Baker questioning that and he responded they are not legal at this time.

I was kind of confused with this as well. Was toying with the idea of building a Pure Stocker, and wasn't sure how restricted the suspension actually is.

The rulebook states:

"SUSPENSION: Must be OEM per horsepower claimed. Any stock type shocks permitted. No other suspension changes or additions permitted."

I almost read that as saying you can change the shocks but no other changes are permitted. Obviously can't add things, but can't swap either? So you can't change control arms to aftermarket even if they bolt in the stock location and are stock style? Can't box/reinforce uppers and lowers on a GM A/B/G body?

YES .. HD Bolt On rear control arms replacement is fine.
Boxing is fine since it makes the stock arms stronger.
Hardened Bushings replacement is fine.
Does not change the geometry.

So long as it does not change the suspension design.
Which most don't. Safety first is good..!

My car uses 3/4" longer control arms to fit larger slicks.

Anything that is Bolt On..!

Reinforced Stock Suspension pieces making the car stiffer and safer.
Better control arms, or using better replacement bushings.
Front Shock that behaves like a 90/10 shock.

Good set of gears, sticky tires and that is about it !

My son is working on his 2002 Camaro and this is what I have be told that on the rear you what a good anti roll bar on the rear or the largest anti roll bar. That year of car you could get as a cop option with a larger bar. I don't know how well the stock toque arm will hold up, they do make a better bushing for the front mount. I looked at some pics of some that have failed and it not pretty. Tom
