Ok i have a question? The car that we r building is an 1989 GT Mustang and the NHRA rated HP is 225.....I wanted to know should we clame it as an 89 or 1993. Because the 1993 HP from NHRA is 205 i think the car will fall into G/FIA or H/FIA.....If some one could help me out i would really be greatful....

is it a mass air or speed density? the way to go is with the speed density 87-89 ..it's rated @ 215 and the mass air is 220. the 93 is factory 205 NHRA 220. oh and they are G/FIA add weight to H/FIA

Its a mass air car.... It wont be hard to switch it over from what my friends at Eaton tells me....What kind of computer should we use??? Holley Commander?

My LX is an '89 but claim it as a '91 due to original NHRA weight minimums (now redundant with the new rule allowing to move to top of class weight.). NHRA doesn't differentiate between a MAF and a SD package. As you already know an '89 is a MAF system, mine has a Holley 950 adjustable SD system. Just about every 5.0 stocker uses aftermarket Speed Density or Alpha-N EFI setup. Evan Smith may be the only exception.
The only thing better than the various Mustang 5.0 combos are the people who run them. They are some of the nicest people around. Those who've guided me: Travis Gusso, Earle Holt, Jeff Swanson, Scott Demmy. Two of the biggest though have to be Bret Velde and David Lindsay (C/FI Cobra). |

i have been putting a 5.0 stocker together for about a year now. getting close . mine is a notchback and the biggest hurdle i have come across is getting to weigh enough for class. right now i am 250lbs light for g, and about 500 lbs light for h. i use the holley 950 and i am very happy with how easy it is to use and the results. i talked to lee valentine a couple of times and he has been very helpful. i got his number off of one of the 5.0 posts on this site. good luck with your car.
