Anyone try this combo with 2 BBL in a 60's car? Still has original factory HP. Way more than the LA 318.

It would be a nightmare.....What is it 230HP or so?
I race a 63 Belv. 318 poly with 2 fours in AHRA Formula Stock back in the day that I traded straight across for a set of Max Wedge Heads to Burbank Speed in the early 70s. It ran in the mid 12s. A 2 Brl. 318 would not stand a chance against our 318 Thermoquad O/SA Wagon which is at 230 HP!

If you take 45 hp off like the LA engines, it would be reasonable to consider.

Finding a cam for one would be a nightmare, but they are solids and adj rockers. Read of a builup on one of these engines, a little head work, cam and good intake, made over 500 hp. Briggs and Stratton valves in them.

The 62 4 barrel would be great if it were rated around 220. Other than the lifter layout for the canted valves, the shortblock is no different than an LA 318 or 340, it uses the same AFB as the 361/305 with 1.84/1.56 valves and these engines can be had for free although the mani is usually few hundred. Find a clean 62 Dodge or Plymouth 2 or 4 dr and have fun.

I was thinking of the 2 bbl combo in a A body. Well tuned that combo produces a strong torque curve. With a B&B motor and a stocker cam???? How easy to convince NHRA for a 318 LA rating?
