Arrow Anyone going to MIR take note: Small Traffic Delay - Directions Around

Copied from IHRA.com -

MIR Small Traffic Delay Due To Bridge Construction:

Torco President's Cup Fans and Competitors Please Take Note:

On highway 234 which is the main road in front of Maryland International Raceway, there is construction taking place on the bridge that is located at Allen?s Fresh Run.You will encounter a small delay about one mile south on highway 234 from the intersection of highway 301 and 234.There are timed traffic lights directing traffic across what will be a one lane bridge until December of 2007. You can expect about a 5 to 10 minute delay if you come from that direction.

If you are coming from the south and wish to bypass this delay, continue North on highway 301 until you get to Waldorf, then go South on highway 5 towards Mechanicsville (about 20 miles), then turn east on to highway 236 for 6 miles. Highway 236 dead ends on highway 234, the IHRA holding lot will be to your right and MIR will be to your left

If you are coming from the north, take exit 7A off of highway I-95 to exit 7A (branch Avenue) South about 20 miles to Highway 5 South in Waldorf towards Mechanicsville (about 20 miles), then turn east on to highway 236 for 6 miles. Highway 236 dead ends on highway 234, the IHRA holding lot will be to your right and MIR will be to your left.

Dave, I am also preregistered. The voucher says to bypass holding lot and go directly to the gate. After the rig is parked, go to the credential trailor and sigh in.

Chip Johnson made mention on DRR that his wife lived in this area and she said you were better off to just wait the 5-10 minutes for the delay.

The way around is atleast 26 miles - so it would take you 20-30 minutes to go around, versus just waiting 5-10 minutes. BUT if due to the increased traffic to the track, the delay is increased, it may be more time efficient to go around.

Still not sure which way we are going to go....

If I was Chip's wife, I'd probably want to live 3 states away from where he lives too.

Hold the gates open, I'm on the way,

Sounds like y'all *are* coming, then! Good. Keep that boy's head on straight, Angela, and he'll do fine. Maybe we can pull a Myron and *both* of us pass Bertozzi!
