anyone have any luck running radial tires? ive been running stiff sidewall slicks and I keep beating my sidewalls out after about 100 passes. wonder if a radial will hook until I go on the stop.

A radial track prep is key, which u won't see at any Nats. or Pts. race. As well as they are very unforgiving, if you turn the tire its over. Bad combo for S/G in my opinion.

My 9" radials are great in Super Street. I know that isn't the same as a Super Gas car, but...

that's kind of what I was thinking. track prep would be key. just trying to launch so hard to hit the tree. I need a 2200lbs roadster I guess.

my car normally works great. it just all of a sudden does this. I put tires on and im good for another 100 passes. I took some slow motion video of robs car and I think rocks are falling out of his car causing his issue. how many passes do people usually get out of a set of slicks doing this type of racing versus bracket racing? im sure leaving at 5000 is harder on tires than 3500

I give my tires to a Super Street racer who gets another 50 to 60 ,or until I give him the next set. Like Gary said ,track prep at Div/Nat races is good for a soft leaving radial car ,but I wouldn't trust it to be there for 6-7 rounds of Super Gas .

I investigated trying a radial tire on my SG car, cause I'm silly that way sometimes.. OK.. OK.. not just sometimes.. the engineer at MT told me that their radial tire probably would work on my combination, but that they life of the tire would be deminished because of going on and off the stop.. I LISTENED..
Speaking of tires, I will have two sets of MT 33x15-15S, part number 3080, at the Atco points race.. one set with 35 runs, the other with 26 runs.. $350 per set... |
