I know you are right but what if it was full of biological material and was hoping to be shot down early so as to spread over the states???? I’m thinking maybe that’s the reason the military advised to wait

All possible, but not likely as that would be a major provocation... The stuff of novels... Better safe than sorry? Not sure what the motive... Much easier/less obtrusive ways to get intell... Spy balloons went out with the space race. Political gamesmanship?... Perhaps? Our military, I hope put everything of value under wraps... They had plenty of time, I understand it was a slow mover... Maybe jammed/intercepted anything it was transmitting? |
