I'm not sure that my list would include Competition Eliminator.

If you compete in NHRA Divs/Nats in any class, you are a class racer in my view. Note, this is a self serving opinion because I considered myself a class racer before building a Stocker when I ran S/ST and S/G.
I'm fine if S/SS gets it's own name or takes over class racing and we give another name to all the other nationally contested classes, I just don't know what that name would be.

Class Racers run qualified fields based on performance and have heads-up runs.
All of us run a "class". Even bracket racers....

I can live with and respect the opinion. Do we give a name to other NHRA class participants? And what would it be? Is it different from Bracket racing/outlaw index racing?

I have always noticed the NHRA fan guide with questions . The official NHRA Program Guide. Look up Stock or Superstock. If you are a spectator reading this description, we are strictly bracket racers. Heads-up no breakout rules are not mentioned anywhere in the descriptions.

Some folks would agree with the OP. Others would consider any Sportsman participants below Top Alcohol at divisionals and nationals to be class racers.
I would tend to agree with the OP based on the large number of classes in each eliminator. But I wouldn't try to pick a fight with anyone who felt differently. |
