I have done both and I really enjoy doing both. If I had to name one I would lean towards Ckass Racing for the occasional heads up runs as it makes you keep improving your car for your class.

racing is trying to get to the finish line first. i am not trying to start anything but bracket racing is not racing. it should be called socialistic driving, everyone is a winner, not just the faster or stronger. in any type of competition people get beat and get their feathers ruffled, that is life. i agree that drag racing got out of hand. but they never tried to get a handle on it. no one watches us because it is hard to get excited about a bracket race. have you ever heard the crowd go wild and scream about how that guy is so consistent he just makes you want to holler his name. please, i know your sister and your mother and your great aunt mildred do but lets get real. circle track racing is packed every weekend, know why, affordable and they actually give the trophy to the fastest guy. the first body of any hra that figures this out will get the crowd back on a regular weekend knoxville runs spec heads in two classes and the place is packed with those cheaper entries. they have a brodix rep to check the heads. a couple years ago a guy won and the brodix rep after checking him out said, ray charles could see those heads are illegal! and promptly kicked him out.takes the pressure off of the whatever hra. just a thought.

Okay this is Friday morning, may as well get this started. I have been around this sport for ever and two cars lined up beside each other to run a given distance is a drag race. I enjoy racing both participating and spectating.
NHRA/IHRA Class racing is when cars are grouped into a specific set time. If you meet certain rules you are in this class. This class has a certain et (index/dial in). Being in this class you must run a certain elapsed time or you are beat. Eliminator - two class cars line up one may have a faster index (dial in) than the other the difference is put in the timing system (tree). One class car leaves first. Running faster than your index (dial in), go to the end of the track and put on brakes. Bracket racing is when you have a car that, depending on what performance enhancements you can afford, runs a certain et (index/dial in). Eliminator - two bracket cars line up one may have a faster dial in (index) than the other and the difference is put in the timing system (tree). One bracket car leave first. Running faster than your dial in, go to the end of the track and put on brakes. Pinks All Out racing is when cars are gouped into a specific set time. The class you are in is based on a certain et, like an index. The cars, no matter what class all run. There is no et into the timing system. Elimator time - all cars in a class (et) that are, in most cases, less than .01 seconds apart are eligible to be selected as the final 16 cars. These races are settled at the finish line .002 second (inches). The point being is it is drag racing the people who go enjoy it no matter how you want to describe you favorite type of racing. The issue is getting the races promoted and the specators will come. We just discussed this at great length at the Drag Race Reunion this past week-end. What happened to the drag race promotors and the track promotors. Do you remember "Sunday, Sunday", add the name of your local track. I am in North Carolina and I can remember radio ads on "WKIX" radio station for match races between local racers and big Modified Production and Gasser races. What you call your favorite racing is not the problem of getting spectators. And this will be the end of this long discussion, this past week-end when we were talking about drag racing and promotion and individual was listening to the conversation and asked what ever happen to that track? I'm not going to name the track but the track she asked about has been in operation in North Carolina for a long time and still operates ever week-end. This lady lives in the state and did not know the track still has races there. Okay I know that was long, it's the week-end lets go racing and take along some young person, family member or friend who either has not ever been to a race or not been in a long time. Fire up the charcoal grill and if you get beat in the first round don't just load up and leave. |
