Very competitive! But you had better get a semi to tow it.

Cool Re: Can this car be competetive?

This car has more miles under it being towed than most cars ever had being driven. It surfaces and resurfaces periodically.Jerry McClanahan was the Stock Eliminator world champ in 1974 with it, he also won 17 Saturday nights in a row at the Irwindale 1/4 mile track back then, then it went up north.Rob Robinson had it,it came to the '83 Winternationals in U/SA with Rob in it, then Rob had a '68 Chevelle G/SA 396 car that had a very similar paint scheme.John Melvin bought them both, the Chevelle got sold to the Emmons brothers, the wagon went to Vic Hobbs, then John Nickle bought it and ran it until a few years ago, (I gave John a stash of 283 heads-around 50 or so and my old 283 parts accumulation back then,)and during this time, all these people owned it,but probably 15-20 different people probably drove it. John sold it a few years ago, now here it has resurfaced again. I wonder if it still has chrome inner fenders? Anybody gets this car gets some real history. Try and find one now,let alone build one for this price.

studying the NHRA guides, at which I am admittedly a complete dunce, it appears the car only has to weigh 45 pounds more with the 327/275, and can run the same classes. Is that possible? I must certainly be reading that wrong...283/220-19.97/20.46/3895 lbs
327/275-16.93-17.35/3940 lbs---ok it falls higher natural, but a 3 seat appears to reach R/sa with 327----

am I doing this right?

surely seems the 327 would be worth the 45 lbs-someone correct me I must be wrong

Can it? absolutely it can, a wagon won IHRA Div. 9 last year. One of, if not the toughest div. in the Country imho.

Wasn't that wagon raced at one time by Rob Robinson the owner of Stark Street Pizza in Portland,Oregon ?
And then went to Southern California and raced there........?

Unhappy Re: Can this car be competetive?

From just the parts listed there it looks like a smokin' deal to me. Too bad I'm already building a race car and just bought a GTO.
