Default AHRA comes to Division Four

It has just been announced, AHRA will take over operations of Thunder Road Raceway. [formally Red River Raceway near Shreveport La.]

The plan is to make it the "Hub Track & Office" for the region.

Personally, I consider this to be great news. I have witnessed the decline of drag racing in the region and consider this news a possible step to turn that decline around.

AHRA TAKES OVER LOUISIANA TRACK

December 8th, 2009 10:00 A.M. PST

The American Hot Rod Association is pleased to announce that it has entered into a multi-year agreement, effective January 1, 2010, to take over all operations of Thunder Road Raceway Park. Thunder Road is located in Gilliam Louisiana, 18 miles north of Shreveport. “This will be the mother ship of re-establishing the AHRA in the South; once known as strong AHRA country for many decades” stated Troy Moe, Chief Executive Officer of AHRA. Moe said AHRA will be redesigning the Sportsmen programs as well as hosting multiple major spectator events at the facility. AHRA will be making an announcement shortly as to the appointment of its new General Manager of the facility. “We look forward to developing our Sportsmen friendly programs by sanctioning additional tracks in the Louisiana, Texas, Arkansas and Oklahoma markets” stated Moe. AHRA will be announcing a “Reunion Tour” date for the facility in the coming days. AHRA class rules will be posted on its web-site the week of December 13, 2009. “We are extremely excited to have Thunder Road on board in this capacity. This long term agreement will allow us to develop a strong relationship with the sportsmen racers, which is one of the primary objectives of our company” Moe stated. Please direct any questions to info@ahradragracing.com.

I wonder if they might have a job opening for someone like me. I need to move south. It hasn't been above 9 degrees here since early Sunday night and I hate cold!

I think it holds great potential,

I do not know what to expect. However, I expect it to be good! [smile]

I really think it is a possible shot-in-the arm for regional drag racing. The programs may be just enough different to revitalize interest.

A few things I "think" we can expect, rails racing rails, door cars racing door cars, payout farther down the eliminator, promotions, a true effort to rebuild the regional participation, innovative ways to bring in spectators, "name" match races to bring in crowds.

Let's keep an optimistic eye on the deal.

I have a question
Why do you feel AHRA will do better then IHRA or NHRA for the racer
What do they bring to the table that the other two dont?
I am not beilng negative I am just asking a question

Mark,

I am simply being optimistic, [or maybe looking through Rose colored glasses.[ [smile] It is just that I have a feeling AHRA may be more innovative, more in-tune to the average racer and fan.
