Default Help me class my car

I want to be able to run with the guys from the SSSSA & the CCRA, but I still can't seem to make heads or tails of the rule book for SS here's what I got so far

71 Plymouth Duster
3300 lbs w/ driver
345 sml blk stock stroke iron head
stock suspension w/ inboard rear springs
all steel expt fiberglass hood ( can change to steel hood if needed)
factory dash w/ guages 2 fiberglass front seats no rear
factory glass all around

If this dosen't fit a class what do i need to change to make it fit, just trying to fit in somewhere tired of weekend bracket racing , and don't want to go nitrous racing.

Private message Jim Woods he techs IHRA, and is PRES. of SSSSA. I think it sounds like a SS/C or DM Thats C or D modified , either stick or auto. was the hood w/scoop availble on car that year? (Because of weight and cubic inches)

The only hood available from the factory for the 71 340 Duster is the flat steel hood without scoops. The 318 Feather Duster is the only V8 Duster that came from the factory with the twin scoops. The 71/72 Demon 340 had the twin scoops but that's a Dodge.

Are you sure about the Feather Duster? I think you may be thinking of the '72 Twister. The Feather Duster's were only Slant 6 cars in 1976.

Not 100% sure of the years the "Twister" option was available, but Mopar Steve is correct and I believe those scoops were smaller and non-functional.

is it a stroker engine, or a 340? what type of heads do you run.

I don't think the rulebook is that hard to understand.

I doubt you want to build a car to race one of the weight to cubic inches classes such as modified or IHRA Superstock Production.

It's a 340 with j heads, I guess maybe i'm just misunderstanding how the rulebook reads.

Didn't the feather dusters have aluminum hoods and I believe they were the 6cyl. only.

With a stock factory available stroke and OEM part numbered cylinders heads your car can race in IHRA alphabet super stock. Even with the glass hood.
It is a cubic inch to weight catagory where pretty much anything goes with the motor.

Contact Mike Baker at IHRA for specifics.
