Default Can I remove my dash vent?

The gauge cluster for my Race Pak fits perfectly into the heater vent hole in the center of the dash. Is it against the rules for me to remove it and fill it with the gauge cluster? If it is, could I contend that the car is heater delete and I should be able to remove it?
Thank you,
Larry

Thank you,

you can't run a racepak dash in a stocker to begin with, but otherwise yes. The firebirds have been putting gauges in the AC vents for quite a while

not correct on the part about not being able to run a racepak or other dash in a stocker.

Place the racepak display in front of the gauge cluster that is original.

So they no longer have "full stock dashboard including instruments, fresh air ducts and controls must be retained" in the NHRA rulebook?
See Stock / Electrical / Instruments.

Yep, I had to put the AC/Heater controls back in my dash for SS. Guys with the Firebirds do put gauges in their AC vents. I'm probably the only one not to. I see cars with the Racepack dash on the collumn in front of the factory cluster, don't think you can pull the cluster.

I am retianing my factory cluster. It is a lot more difficult to put the race pak in front of the stock cluster than in front of the heater register. Also I have been told (not from NHRA) that I could remove the heater controls because the car is a heater delete from the "factory". Maybe I should call NHRA tech for clarification?
Thanks,
Larry

If a car is indeed a factory "heater delete" car, then why does it have any heater controls in it?

Your guess is as good as mine.

Not what I was told.
