Pretty sure the 64 Falcon is a 260 2 barrel only, a Mustang or Comet would be a better choice, with 289 4 barrel available.

I didn't look it up, but I believe Rory is correct, 2bbl, my first car was a 64 falcon. I f the rating is real low, you would be in a fairly slow class, but it may be competative.

The Sprint breaks at 17.09 and is rated at 164 HP for the 260. The 289 didnt become available in the falcon until 1965. Thats a Natural Q car. I dont think it has much of a chance with the 2 barr. carb. in any of the classes it can run against 4 barr. carbs and FI.

Problems of a 164 HP 260, V8. 1.01 Motorcraft 2BBL carb (to small), 5 bolt bellhousing (4 speed), 2 speed auto only (Fordomatic, Not Powerglide), cam is tiny (.380" lift). I ran this engine when new with Jr. Stock rules and it was fair untill the turbo Corvairs came along (J/S). Dialing that 2 BBL combo is a headache, weather drives it crazy. The '63 260 is rated at 158 HP, but has the small intake and exhaust valves to deal with, althought with the small ports might work. At legal weight might go low 14's but Q/SA is a 13.8 index. Best to try a known combo to start with. Fred

Like I said I was just wondering. I am not ready to give up on my Nova yet.
You would think that since this had the two speed ford tranny it should get to use the new two speed that is in the mustangs. |

i had a 64.5 mustang that had a 289/4bbl/4speed, i'd be surprised if it wasn't available in a 64 1/2 falcon futura but i can't say for sure. oh never mind, 65 for a 289 falcon (convert the 64 ![]() btw, what does the " W/COM" below the body style mean? Cruise-O-Matic . It's heavier, hence, a different weight break.
