What a great guy Howard was, racer, teacher, veteran, family man.
My kindest regards to the family.

I remember Howard from the old days in East Texas (Hallsville, Interstate 20 and Whitehouse). He was always friendly and helpful, I'll never forget him. God speed Howard.

I met Howard when he won the "Summernationals" at Englishtown (see pic) over my good buddy Wes Leopold Sr.
He was a gentleman and a great drag racer.
RIP

Sad to hear about "Sarge". I made my last passed at Hallsville in 1974 losing to Glenn Self and that darn 6 cylinder Camaro and have not been to a drag race since 1987 when the Texas Motorplex opened. I've been living in Hendersonvlle, TN since 1989.

I last saw Howard about 2004 when he gave me a tour of the shop and I could tell then than he was slowing down. I've often thought about him and have prayed for him and the family. He will be missed but I'm sure he is in a better place with complete peace.
