The other post on this subject has a lot of good points and information. But I have a question that doesn't seem to have been asked.
Where did this whole idea come from? Based on the seemingly overwhelming opposition to the idea, at least by the people on the forum anyway, why did the NHRA guys, Skelly, Imbrogno, et al, even bring up the subject to the racers? Was it a select group of racers who have the NHRA's ear that started this whole mess? Was it the manufacturers of the delay boxes that are trying to expand their market? Who would be the biggest beneficiaries of such a change in the rules? Whoever approved any of the crazy switches that are allowed now either didn't read the rule book, couldn't read the rule book, or was convinced to allow them by pressure from the manufacturers and/or marketers of those switches. Why else would they even be submitted for approval?
