#1 Qualifier in Stock- IHRA Byron

Check out the # 1 Qualifier in Stock. John Becker.

Look, I know this is the most underfactored deal on the planet, but here is the cool part. The guy that owns and races this car is in his seventies. He bought the car and added a couple of bolt on goodies and drives it to the track. It is a stick turbo Neon. He bolts slicks on and races. When he raced at Cordova last year at the NHRA points meet, he slept next to his car on an army cot under the stars. If this isn't grass roots racing, I don't know what is. He came over to our pits last year trying to find out what a line lock was so he could get one for his car.

The funniest part is that Chuck Blossom doesn't know what to do with this guy since he is liable to do the same thing at Cordova in August. (1.40 under). John also has a Hyabusa that he bracket races. I hope I still can run the remote to the TV when I am his age. Jim.

I visited with John at Earlville last year. He is a very nice man and he has more fun at the races than anybody I ever met!

I meet John at Earlville in 1999, my brother inlaw came out to Earlville to watch me race and John saw my brother inlaw in my pitts and came over to talk to him and my brother inlaw introduced him to me.this guy absolutely loves racing,I talked to him yesterday at Byron and he is having a blast with his car.
