Way too cool! I wonder why a supercharged 5.4L is only rated at 400 HP since the 5.4L supercharged Shelby is 500 HP? Either 400 HP is a misprint or it's purposedly deceptive to fall into A/S class.
Obviously Chevy can't ignore this call to arms...!

Well let's see, the 428CJ came from the factory with a rating of........335hp!?!?! LOL! Sound familiar?LOL!

Don't worry, it's a ford so nhra will tack on 50hp before it makes it's first pass!

Bitter?................Who me?

From what I understand the Cobra Jet is going to have smaller cams than what the Shelby has.

If GM gets in on this, it could be the start of the Big 3 battle of my generation!

i think it would be awesome for the big 3 to have a war like this again.. but GM is ran by to many bean counters these days & not real people i doubt GM will take the bait...it would actually humor me for GM to get bought out as punishment for their stubbornness in todays market... they might actually sell a few cars if they would make something that people actually want.. or can afford...just my opinion though
i think it would be great if they let the buick division do whatever they wanted where performance is concerned, i know the last time they did the result was more than anybody expected... but then again i'm a little biased

i think its great that ford is doing this, & hope somebody actually races one..

i also wonder if or how much this will increase the value of Lloyd & Dg's lightweight Gas Rhonda car... i'm sure it won't hurt its value any.

just my 2 cents

Thumbs up Re: 2008 Mustang Cobra Jet announced

Sounds like TOP/STK will be a whole new game next year. Watch for it to become a FEATURED race at NHRA events and USED to recreate a spectator appeal.....AS IT SHOULD BE>

I'd vote for this, but what viable platform does GM have any more? Malibu? Impala? They seem to care a little about their Cobalt/Ecotec program, but it's *several* notches down from the Cobrajet/Challenger offerings. We've been waiting since '02 for the Camaro, and a late '09 arrival date (will be an '10 model) is still just a guess, and will be soooo far behind the market that it hardly even seems viable any more. Granted, I'd love nothing more than to see a S/S Camaro from the factory, but if it's taken them 7+ years *just* to replace the previous generation (that was in production for 10 years mind you!), then how dad-gum long would we have to wait for the S/S version? Until '11...'12...?

Typical deal for us Chevy fans...GM is a day late, and *at least* a dollar short...

I'm wondering if AA/S class will evolve into a seperate entity like AA/H class.
