I would like to make contact with some racers who have a good understanding of the General Motors "G" bodies suspension system. Specifically, class legal rear mods but not to exclude the complete suspension package from discussion.
My first area of need is to understand how the angled rear control arms focus/transfer the forward motion. I do have considerable drag race experience, just not experienced with mods for the GM factory system. And to help direct the discussion, my plan is a small block Chevy, IHRA Crate Motor Stocker using a G body. The engine combo will be one of the aluminum head crate motor engines so expected performance is high - mid 10's Thanks

I've had the Southside Machine bars on my car since '95, now sold as Lakewoods, but no 12-bolt conversion kits anymore.
Mounting holes for the arms in the frame must be tight, if you run any rubber bushings pinion angle becomes more critical. I use the HR Parts N Stuff upper housing bushings in the hard rubber style, better than poly or factory. Fresh factory bushings are better than the poly stuff, for a transbrake launched car. Stock front springs were fine when I footbraked the car in the low 11's, still running stock style rear springs. Let me know if you have any specific questions I might be able to help you with..... |
