If Division 1's John Friel with his 68 Dodge Dart SS/AA from the footage of the Turbo Action Video (of the early 90's) shows up, he gets my vote. Note only did he come within inches of touching his rear bumper, his wheelstand seem to last about 80-100ft out, and afterwards gracefully landed on his fronts, then boogied down to a 9.19 @ 144 mph! This wheelstand was the coolest one I've ever seen, and I've been following this sport for over 36yrs.

best wheelstands i ever saw was at orlando fl. both by stockers one by Brett McFarland and the other by Arnold Green. both 300' or better Arnold took the plate off the back bumper of his nova. both were in third gear when they landed.

John Friels Dart is bad ***. I believe the best, longest wheelstand he did was at the Gators in 94 in the right lane.........

I stand a bit corrected with regards to John Friels wheelstand, because after re-watching the Turbo Action video, from the 1992 Winston Invitational race at Rockingham, Nc., not only was his wheelstand more likely 150-225ft out, but I think even the powers that be liked the wheelstand given that "Bulletman" Bob Reed was along side of him, but had problems which hindered his car from leaving the starting line--thus allowing John's wheelstand to be enjoyed by fans such as myself without any blockage from Bob's Cuda which was nearest the camera...I can't tell you guys how many times I rewound my tape to re-look at that wheelstand (over and over again). The only other video I've liked nearly as much was when Steve McFarland drove his former Mustang out of some apparent wheelspin which made his car dart to the right a slight bit, but after he quickly corrected it, he banged those tranny gears enroute to a close victory over a Chevy Camaro at the 96 Southern Nationals in (I believe) rd 2. I miss that car, and if I were to race a Ford, that would be one of the first I'd be interested in trying to get behind the wheel of!
