Have checked and doesn't say but are specs above&below seat still the same? total of.250'' or.125''per side larger than head of valve& down .250'' from top of seat still apply, diagram is gone from book and doesn't mentionit, unless I overlooked it.
Mike Taylor 3601 I didn't notice IHRA I was refering to NHRA are they still same on valve jobs? |

Dave, far be it from me to have the answer, but, I would contact an engine builder you trust. They seem to have info thats not in the rulebook. It is very confusing as to what is legal, reading it in black and white.........

As I understand it the top cut is as it always was being .250 larger than the seat cut. The bottom cut now can be any angle and/or depth. Its been about 7 years since I have kept up with this stuff but thats the latest info I have.

It would be really nice if someone drew a diagram of the valve and seat. Just a simple 3-angle valve diagram with labels of the acceptable dimensions that meets the new NHRA valve rules....I have CAD software so if you have a sketch on the back of a napkin scan it and send it to me. I will gladly draw it and post it.

I called Bruce as instructed by Div.3 office the way I understood him top cut be cut any size, cut bowl to about top of guide as many&any angle you want.So I asked if that meant you could take bowl hog and cut to top of guide and he said yes most were, and asked if meant could unshroud around valves with cutter on guide&seat machine which I did before but less than .250",the way I understood him .250"spec was gone above valve also.I may not be understanding him the way he meant but I tried to ask questions to verify we understanding each others questions&answers.I think Terry's probaly right that makes sense to me.I don't really like the bowl area being cut my opinion is that's going to far for stock.I'd rather talk in person with them withcyl.head and see where they mean instead of described over phone,I don't mean that as negative
comment, but you can make sure your'e on same page that way. Maybe someone like Woodro or Travis can tell us? Mike Taylor 3601 |

OK Guys, there is no .250 above or below anymore. Any bowl cut as long as it is done off the center of the guide. Any valve job and any angles.......but absolutely no grinding anywhere. Machine to be done off the center of the guide and NO MOVING THE GUIDES!
