Absolutely effin' unbelievable...
NHRA, in an apparent effort to help the lowly sportsman racer in these "challenging economic times", has chosen TO RAISE THE CREW MEMBER TICKETS AT NATIONAL EVENTS BY $5 TO A MERE $85. No announcement, no notice, no justification...just slip it in there (literally and figuratively) and move on... Thank you, Mr. Compton...enjoy your $700k+ salary... |

The part y'all gotta love is the fact that its the same 85 bucks for either a 3 or 4 day race!!!!!!!!!!!
I thought the 3 day races use to be 10 bucks cheaper??? |

Remember NHRA has always stuck it to the Sportsman racers and crew.
Why would we expect anything else? NHRA = NO HAPPY RACERS ALLOWED NHRA needs the funds to pay the additional Pro Prize Pool for 2009. As you can remember they announced the increase at the end of 2008. They really don't want us around except for our cash and then go away. I am getting real close to just going away. After 40 plus years of this treatment which is getting worse. I am old and tired of the hassles. My 2 Cents |

Also, towards the end of last year, the NHRA raised the membership fee $5.00 (from $64.00 to $69.00). I have been an NHRA member since the '60s and I was fortunate enough to renew before the increase went into effect; but, in these economic times, this is outrageous.

Some sort of sanity is running through the offices in Glendora. The oil down penalties for pros and sportsman racers has been rescinded for 2009 in the name of saving money for race teams.Since
most of the oil is spilled by the pros it's not a big factor in easing sportsman racers financial burden. Holding the line on entry fees and other assorted fees would be a better way of showing us they appreciate our business. Ed F. Quote from Ed F. Now we know how NHRA is going to make up the money that they usually bill the sportsman and pro racer for, oil downs. Make it up with a higher entry fee for the crews. NHRA is pulling the wool over everyone eyes, or at least they think they are! I'm surprised that NHRA hasn't added an additional surcharge on to the entry fee to national events and call it something like "our morgages needs to be paid off". Casey Miles 248H |

I figured that the oil downs would be part of the cheap time filler. If they have less than full fields, they can send those Markie Mark wanna be's with a $2.00 T-shirt cannon out to placate the crowd while they burn time during the clean up.
