I have a friend in Iowa who has a '65 Ford "Custom" 2-door post car with a low-riser 427/4-speed combo/ Detroit Locker that is all original. He has never raced it; his Dad bought it new and he inheritied in when his Dad passed on. It has unusual glass covers over the headlights. Maybe a police option... dunno.
He asked me if I'd try to find out where the Adkins car was raced, and when. He has a burning interest in these cars. If anybody knows where that car won all those trophies (shown in the picture,) please let me know so I can tell my buddy. He'd appreciate it a lot. Thanks a bunch... Bill

I think I remember seeing those Factory glass covers in "Hot Rod" for use in nascar for aerodynamics.
I was at on time a Ford guy. |

All 1965 full-sized Fords with the 427 engine option came from the factory with the clear headlight covers. That included everything from the low budget Custom all the way up to the Galaxie 500XL. They only came on the 427 cars.

Used to homologate rounded headlight covers for nascar. Could be ordered on any 65 fullsize Ford. Ron.

This is just a "bump" to put this thread back on top since there are 128 people viewing right now.
Hard to believe that nobody her ever saw that 427 Galaxie race. I think it's a East Coast car. If you ever saw it run, post a note here, please, and let me know what part of the country it was in. Ken, is that your stick-shift '67 GT-500 buddy's car, or , maybe his Dad's? Thanks for any information! Bill
