Default Questions on Pontiac and Olds engine cores

I am looking for some information here. I have the chance to buy some engine cores. There are some 400 and 455 Pontiacs along with some 350 Olds engines. I don't know what to look for as far as castings and markings go. Any advise, any idea of the value of these blocks/engines?

Thanks!

Wink Re: Questions on Pontiac and Olds engine cores

Jeff,

The 400,455 & 350 olds are always worth more to a restro/ muscle type guy.. Racers are paying somewhere between $ 50-150 for bare blocks depending on condition.
Best thing is to get on some Pontiac sites like ; Pontiac Street Performance /Restro Forum
Performace Years Online Forums (Pontiac ) , WWW.KREPOWER.COM (Look up links and you will find more sites ) ....... E-mail me @ daveribeiro@aol.com if you need more help....

HI Jeff, The 455s are worth more than the 400s. There were fewer of them to start with.
Of course we're talking about building performance engines here. Who knows about the resto market .
You'll need the codes and dates for that.
Make sure the 400s have the 5 mount bolt holes on each side (70 or newer) They'll bolt into more applications (2nd Gen Firebirds)
Say hi to your Dad for me
