Default Bristol - 1978-79

My friend, Johnny Labbous, won Pro Street class at Bristol in 1978 and 1979, driving his SS/CA Plymouth. This car was the ex-"Honking Hemi", owned by Billy Orr from Alabama. The car wasn't quick enough to qualify in super stock so he ran it in IHRA's quick 32 class called Pro Street. That's me, squatted in the front row with a white t-shirt.

The second photo shows Johnny Labbous at the wheel of Al Mahoney's B/A Hemi roadster, at Bristol in 79.

Good times! Wayne.

do you where this car ended up?? Dad asked Tony Depillo about his car, and wondered if it was the same car that dad saw run at Green Valley back in the days, but Tony, wasnt sure it was the same car or not.... Is this the same car?

It's not the same car as Tony's, but it did run at Green Valley. Johnny Labbous bought the car from Billy Orr in 1977 and named it "Loose Caboose" like all his other cars. He sold it about 1980. I asked Johnny last year where this car was now and he said it was owned by a collector in Nevada or Nebraska, I forget which. If you notice closely, Tony's car is named "Honkin Hemi", no "G" on the word "Honking".

Wayne.
